feeling rather much like an expat
Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 05:40PM Happy Fourth of July!
Even though it is still techincally the third in the States, it is past midnight here, so it's Independence Day for me.
I'm not feeling too patriotic this year, especially since we won't be celebrating in any form or fashion. It's hard to believe that another year has passed, especially since this is how we celebrated last year:
Leah, Amelia, and I will be getting on a bus bound for the Western Coast to escape the drama of Athens and the Odyssey group for a few days. Literally at the crack of dawn, we have to get up and be out of the apartment by 5:30 in the morning...which is in less than 5 hours.
We'll be in Lefkada until Friday afternoon, when we have to come back to Athens-I have to do airport pickup and orientation for a small group of students coming in on Saturday, so we had to cut our trip short. I'm getting low on cash, so it's probably for the best anyway.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Independence Day. Enjoy the fireworks for me, I'll miss them.

P.S. If you didn't notice, I added a ton of photos to the post about Hydra below.

The picture of the door knocker and leaves is my favorite one. My cube mate at work has a knocker just like that so I'm going to search the city for one of those for you...they have to be around here somewhere. And I want one too...b/c they're cute. :)

I don't know about you, but it feels weird and unbelievable to look at that photo and know that an entire year has gone by. Wow. I love photos like that, ones that capture all the emotion in that one moment. Beautiful.
I was talking to my Mom this morning. I told her that your trip was not what you expected but that you made the best of it. Don't you wish you could somehow "bottle" the essence of Greece to bring home with you? :)
I'm glad the scripture passages helped you. :)
